Report on SSGPS Youth Annual 5-A-Side Football Tournament |
|
The tournament was held on the 7th September 2008 at the CHISLEHURST SPORTS AND COUNTRY CLUB and only one word can describe the event “Brilliant!” |
|
Many youths told us in person that they really enjoyed participating in the tournament which was well organised. As you will see from the photographs that the day was gloomy & it rained too but that did not spoil the day at all. |
|
On the day we had 12 teams participated from: Bakrol, Bandhani, Dabhan, Mahelav, Nadiad, Palana, Palol, Piplav, Ranoli and Sanjaya gams. |
|
Of course we would have not managed such a huge event without the help & dedication of my fellow youths namely Bhavik (Piplav) & Nirav (Mahelav). We would like to sincerely thank them for ensuring that the tournament ran well on time and successfully without any problems. |
|
The winning team was Dabhan & the Runners up were Palana - Many congratulations to the team and their team captains. |
|
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people who helped and worked towards this very successful event. Organising prior to the event: Hetal (Palol), Miraj (Piplav) & Keyur (Mahelav), Administration & Registration on the day: Nima (Palol) & Seema (Palol), Photographs taken by: Kunal (Mahelav), Sports Flyer design – Priya Patel (Palana) Referees: John Ferguson & Pritesh [(Chaklasi) - for the first league matches]. |

Sponsors were: Event Trophies and Medals donated by ICICI Bank UK (Wembley Branch), Bottled water for the participants provided by Sudhirbhai (Piplav) and Rajubhai (Palana) & High Vis jackets for the volunteers & future Samaj use by Yogen (Changa). |

Special note of thanks to: Firstly to Jayendrabhai & Pratik (Changa), owners of the sports club, who have been providing the sports facilities since last three years at no charge and delicious food at minimal cost, and also to Samaj members, who kindly gave up their Sunday to attend the event. |

Way forward |
|
Based on the success of this event, comments received and interest shown on the day, we are very pleased with the youths who participated and would strongly urge other Youths (who are not currently registered on the Samaj Youth database) to register their details via our Samaj website link: http://www.27gampatidar.org/contact. This enables us to contact the Youths via email for all future Meetings and Events. |

Going forward we will post the future Youth Meeting and Events dates on the New Samaj website and would therefore advise you to check the website on a timely basis. |
|
Some of the future events in the pipeline include a Garba Competition (to be held between Dashera and Sharad Purnima), an Exclusive Disco/Dinner nite before Christmas and a Cricket Tournament in April 2009. These are just a few suggestions/ideas given to us from other Youths and hope to get full-hearted support from all you Youths out there! |
